In November 2024, Saskatchewan experienced a 2.4% increase in year-to-date employment compared to 2023, with gains across most sectors, including professional services, health care, retail trade, and education, although declines were noted in utilities, construction, and financial services. Full-time employment saw the largest growth, while the unemployment rate rose to 5.5% from 4.8% in 2023. Housing starts and average housing prices both grew, while inflation was relatively moderate at 1.4%. On the trade front, exports declined by 10.3%, primarily due to drops in metal and industrial machinery sectors. Retail sales were up 2.7%, and manufacturing sales decreased by 6.2%. Average weekly earnings increased by 3.7%, and restaurant receipts saw a 4.0% rise. Population growth continued, with a 2.5% increase year-over-year, driven by international immigration. Despite these positive indicators, GDP growth was forecast to slow to 1.8% in 2024, reflecting a broader economic slowdown.
